Case Studies: Kinetic Media

Youth led, Experience driven.

This one-minute promotional video was created to advertise theaeroguys' #thrillofflight campaign, featuring teaser clips for upcoming videos.

Following a conceptual storyboard, I bounced ideas off my co-founder, and produced an initial draft, subsequently making various changes in the iterative process.

Featuring the dramatic track 'Worlds Apart' by Journey, from the Stranger Things 4 soundtrack, the choreography in this promotional video is superior to anything I have previously attempted, and has improved my skills in this field.

Other techniques used for this production include but are not limited to:

The first two shorts here are part of theaeroguys' Aviation Updates shorts series. Using a combination of personal footage and airline provided press footage, alongside scripted voice-over.

The third is a portrait-oriented version of the initial 30-second promotional video for the Tailwind channel. Again, it focuses on choreography to most effectively advertise the new channel, and in particular its Rat Race series.

The first short here is a ShortCut; Kinetic's short-form video series exploring cities all around the world, offering advice to travellers that they would not have without personally visiting. At first, these were produced alongside the Travel Talk podcast, before later moving to the Tailwind channel too. These videos are all shot on location, with scripted voiceover added during post-production.

The third Short meanwhile is a sneak preview released shortly before the first Rat Race episode as a teaser trailer. Similarly to the full-length video, it features a blend between diegetic audio, and scripted voiceover.

Produced as an official trailer, a short audio clip was created for Kinetic's short-lived Travel Talk podcast. A mix between original music, and scripted audio was used for the trailer, while each episode was non-scripted and recorded in-session. The trailer, and clips from full-length episodes can be provided on request.

A nine-minute, long-form video was produced as the first episode of a series I conceptualised for the Tailwind channel, in which myself and my co-founder raced to London by air and by rail.

Following the carrying out of our respective shotlists, I edited together a first version for proofing, and following minor changes we published the video on schedule and to great success for a first video on a YouTube channel.

The audio mix is a split between diegetic speech and scripted voiceover, and frequent time, location, and camera jumps add to the complexity of this production. It is available for viewing on request.
